Meet the Team

Founded by two passionate student co-founders and supported by many organizations and individual volunteers, we work together to deliver reliable, community-driven solutions that help teams stay connected and empowered.

Michael Smith

Michael Smith is a UC Berkeley Computer Science student and Regents' Scholar, as well as the co-founder and lead engineer of SConnect. A former National Science Olympiad champion, he brings expertise in systems engineering, cybersecurity, and software development to build secure, user-friendly tools that help student teams collaborate and share resources. At SConnect, Michael leads product design, and technical strategy, creating scalable systems that make STEM opportunities more accessible and connected.

Alicia Xie

Alicia Xie is a high school student and multiple-time National Science Olympiad champion passionate about medicine and leadership. She cofounded SConnect in her freshman year after witnessing a teammate's family stranded on I-5 with their only, aging car while traveling to a tournament - an experience that inspired her to build a platform connecting and supporting students teams in need. At Sconnect, Alicia leads financial management, budgeting, and fundraising initiatives to expand access to STEM opportunities for all.
